Žman is a village and small harbour in the south-east of Dugi Otok, north-west of Sali and Zaglav, and south-east of Luka. The older part is inland above the coast, while the new part is in Žmanšćica Bay. In front of the bay, there are the small islands of Krknat and Vaka. The surrounding hills are called Gračina, Veliki and Mali Slotinjak. The economy is based on agriculture, viticulture, fishing and tourism. The fertile fields around Žman turn into Malo i Veliko jezero (Small and Big Lakes) in wintertime. Žman is on the regional road that runs along the island. It was first mentioned in the 13th century by the name of Mežano. St John’s parish church (with its three-aisled basilica) was mentioned in the 13th century, but its original form has not been preserved.
