Umag is a small town and port on the north-western coast of Istria, and is 'Croatia’s gateway to Europe'. This tourist and business centre is 40 km from Trieste, 150 from Ljubljana and 50 nautical miles from Venice. Umag's development is testified to by the internationally famous WTP tennis tournament which is held here every year. The hinterland of Umag is no less attractive for tourists. For many, this area, situated between the rivers Dragonja and Mirna, is still an undiscovered area surrounded by the Umag-Savudrija and Novigrad rivieras.
