Sali/Dugi Otok

Sali/Dugi Otok     Saljske užance

Saljske užance is a series of cultural and entertainment events which have been taking place in Sali for 47 years on the first weekend in August.

Programme

Friday is Ribarska noć (Fishing Night). This involves preparing and choosing the best fish stew, and grilling tuna, sardines and other types of seafood, together with an entertainment programme at the Porto with Dalmatian a cappella groups.

Saturday is the day for sporting contests on Sali (scooter races, sack races, tug of war) and afterwards 'Saljska Night' takes place (illuminating the Porto, ships and small boats) together with an entertainment programme on the quayside with Croatian pop groups.

Sunday is the closing day of events, when there are the traditional donkey races known as Trke tovarov. This is a spectacular event for all the island's guests, the majority of whom go to the quayside of Sali to see these unusual races.
