Fireflies in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of 59 national parks in the United States, situated in and part of two US States, Tennessee and North Carolina.
With around 10 million annual visitors it is the most visited national park in the United States.
For two weeks every summer, a special species of fireflies congregate there to find mates. Thousands gather to observe a naturally occurring phenomenon in which the fireflies blink in unison.
