Marina Tribunj
Built in an unusual style, brightly painted, it attracts with its luxury of space which was not devastated by unnecessary building, but along the marina, there is a promenade by which there is a cultivated green area. There is something special when, in a warm summer night, you walk through the marina and listen to the pleasant sounds of a small fishing village of Tribunj.
Tribunj stands out by its beauty and typical Dalmatian atmosphere: packed stone houses and narrow alleys where many can find peace, as well as interesting fun. Among the sights, we would like to point out the Church of St Nicolas, built in 1452, and the remains of a medieval fort in the old village of Jurjevgrad.
August is the month when it is especially interesting and fun in Tribunj. The reason for this is the traditional donkey races which have been held since 1957 on the first Sunday in August. A really great festival! Respecting the donkey as an animal whose work has been woven into every house, field and stone wall, the people of Tribunj decided to pay their respect to it now, when its survival is endangered because the civilization that it created made it unnecessary. The Association for the protection of donkeys "HRVATSKI TOVAR" ("CROATIAN DONKEY") was founded and its goal is to save the donkey from extinction. In addition to that, during the whole month, you can enjoy different solo concerts and Dalmatian harmony singing, exhibitions...
