Kornati National Park
The Kornati islands are a unique island group in the Mediterranean. The archipelago is situated among the islands of Žirije, Dugi Otok and Pašman. They are named after the biggest island, Kornat, which represents 64% of the total area of the Kornati archipelago. The islands of the Kornati archipelago are the private property of the inhabitants of the towns of Murter and Betina on the island of Murter and to a lesser extent the inhabitants of Žirje and towns on Dugi Otok. Out of the 152 islands of the Kornati archipelago, 89 of them are specially protected as part of Croatian and world natural heritage, and have been turned into a National Park.
